About Modern Apprenticeships

Modern Apprenticeships

Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) offer people aged over 16 the chance of paid employment combined with the opportunity to train for jobs at different levels. They are an exciting way of gaining skills and nationally recognised qualifications that help kick-start a career without having to study full-time.

MAs are available across a wide range of sectors and the format of training is decided by the appropriate SSC for that sector. MAs also instill in trainees a range of 'soft skills' around communication, teamwork and problem solving, as well as improved numerical and IT skills.

For more information on MAs, please download this booklet - What is a Modern Apprenticeship?

Modern Apprenticeship Group

The Modern Apprenticeship Group (MAG) is an independent group that draws its authority from Scottish Ministers. Membership includes representatives from key stakeholders involved in the management and delivery of the MA programme in Scotland.
